The Defenders, allied with Aeroika, must ward off an attack from Ytitnedion’s army. On Earth, Nighthawk steps in to take down Mandrill.

Kyle Richmond, who is now federally barred from being Nighthawk, nonetheless flies off to help Hellcat and Valkyrie, who have been mind-controlled by the Mandrill into becoming part of his all-female army.

The US military and the Wasp, not understanding what’s going on, attacks the Mandrill’s base and their forces clash. Yellowjacket, Mandrill’s captive, watches helplessly.

Meanwhile, Clea feels frustrated at home, being left there by Dr. Strange, Namor, and Bruce Banner, who are back in Tunnelworld. Banner talks to a native, Aeroika, and learns that the Unnameable is still a problem after their last trip here. Strange and Namor are still asleep after a dream conversation with Aeroika’s people. Aeroika and Banner are attacked by the army of Tyitnedion, a servant of the Unnamable. Banner turns into the Hulk and routs their forces. Strange and Namor awake.

Nighthawk arrives and helps defeat the Mandrill’s forces, which still include the controlled Val and Hellcat, as well as the Mutant Force. Finally Kyle drops the female Defenders into one of the Mutant Force’s electrical fields and the women come back to their senses. Angered, they attack with a battle cry of “For Valhalla!” on Val’s part and “And Gloria Steinem!” on Patsy’s part. They force Mandrill to escape and save Yellowjacket.
